Powered by four Bristol Hercules
XVI engines with an output of 1675 Hp, these amazing planes had a maximum speed
of 277 miles per hour at 6,000 feet and a cruising speed of 225 miles per hour
at 20,000 feet. The range was 1,770 miles.
The dimensions were also amazing,
the wing span being 104 feet 2 inches, length 71 feet 7 inches and height, 20
feet 9 inches. Empty they weighed 38,332 lb and 65,000 lb when
fully laden.
The armament consisted of eight .303 Browning machine guns in the mid-upper and tail turrets with provision for one Vickers K gun in the nose.
